Samsung released its Voice Assistant, S Voice almost eight years ago, which helped one call or text someone and do other basic tasks. S Voice was released almost 8 years ago, in 2012.
SamMobile reports that Samsung’s S Voice will be discontinued on June 1st of this year which doesn’t look very far away. According to SamMobile, if you try to invoke the S Voice assistant after June 1st, it will get back to you with, “I’m unable to process your request. Try again later”
If you have a device that was bought recently, it wasn’t shipped with S-Voice built in. The devices which were shipped with S Voice built in are the Galaxy S3, S4, S5, S6, S6 edge, Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Galaxy Note 2,3,4,5, FE, Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9, Galaxy Tab 4, Galaxy Tab 4 8.0/10.1 and Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and S10.5. These devices will be affected with this change and S Voice will no longer function on these devices.
Not many people use S Voice and if you don’t use S Voice, you don’t have anything to worry about. Your Samsung device will run as before.
If you use a Samsung device which you recently bought, you will probably have Bixby on your phone which is way more helpful than S Voice. Bixby was introduced with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus and has improved overtime with updates. In addition to Bixby, you also have the Google Assistant, which is available on any Android phone which was launched in the recent years.
